The freebie websites that give away free gadgets are affiliated with some of the largest companies in the world including LOVEFiLM, Coral, Gala Bingo, Celldorado and even The Carphone Warehouse.

They are all companies you will have heard of before from either tv ads, radio broadcasts, newspaper articles or even from your high street. But for these companies advertising in the ways just mentioned is very expensive and it's not an expense they want to pay!

This is where both the freebie site and you come in. The freebie site and the example companies above have joined forces through affiliate networks. When you sign up to the freebie site and you click to coomplete one of the offers (i'll use LOVEFiLM as an example), when you click the link you are led through the affiliates link and are redirected to the selected offer. Once you complete this offer LOVEFiLM pays the freebie site commision for introducing you to them as a new customer which is something around the £20 mark.

How does this get me free gadgets?

All of your referrals also have to complete one of the offers, just like you did when you signed up. So if the freebie website is paid £20 for every new customer they introduce to the affiliated companies and an 8GB iPod Touch requires 9 referrals.

9 referrals x £20 comission = £180. Although an 8GB iPod Touch retails at around this price, take into the account fact the freebie site buys their gifts at wholesale prices and in bulk! This means they are paying around half the retail cost and pocket the other half as their own profit.
